Although football was played in many forms in the Yarrawonga District with a number of team names, 1890 was the foundation year and saw the formation of the Yarrawonga Football Club.  In its inaugural year Yarrawonga Football Club played against Tungamah, Corowa, Cobram/Boosey United and St James with home games being played at Athletic Park or Kennedy Park as the locals know it.

Yarrawonga Football Club joined the Ovens and Murray in 1929 and it wasn’t until 1993 when netball was introduced into the competition.

Yarrawonga Football Netball Club won its first senior Premiership flag in the Ovens and Murray League against Wangaratta on 26 September, 1959 to then go on and win in 1989, 2006, 2012 and 2013.  Back to Back premierships – what an outstanding success but then narrowly miss the trifecta going down by only 7 points against Albury in 2014.  Not forgetting our reserves who won in 2011 and 2012.

The Club also boasts sensational results from our netball teams.

A Grade Premierships                    2001, 2009 -2012 and 2014

B Grade Premierships                    1997, 2001, 2003 – 2004 and 2009

C Grade Premierships                    1999.

Wow what a ride!!
